The opening of the landmark City Football Academy in Manchester has given vent to sustainable excellence- right through to its ventilation.
The £87.9m, 80 acre complex adjacent to the Club’s stadium – heralded as a global centre of excellence- reaches the gold standard under LEED guidelines. Part of the low carbon target has been met by using local manufacturer Gilberts of Blackpool to produce and supply the ventilation grilles and diffusers.
Gilberts’ products feature in the ceilings and floors of the Central Training Facility for the club’s first team, NW Development Building for up to 400 young players, and FM (facilities management) Building. Gilberts’ standard GRC circular multi cone diffusers, GFSS floor swirl diffusers and HGH high strength sports & gymnasium grilles have all been included, as well as a number of bespoke units.
Combined, the components ensure a good yet quiet distribution of air through the complex’s security command centre, classrooms, staff offices, media centre, gym, refectory, injury and rehabilitation centre, and changing rooms.
Gilberts GRC circular diffusers deliver a modern, aerodynamic design with an omni directional discharge, giving an even distribution of air at high volume, with low noise levels (≤40dB).
The GFSS floor swirl diffusers are unique in appearance, with a stainless steel micro slot pattern design which provides a draught-free swirl displacement airflow through the floors. The slot pattern is purpose-designed to minimise risk of snagging or heel penetration.
Gilberts’ HGH sports & gymnasium grilles are a strong, steel design that provides a 37% free area with design features in line with SportEngland guidelines.
